Fun on the Job!
We had our second Sunday School class on Sunday and had 20 kids. The first week we had 5 because it was the anniversary of Yarinacocha, so all the kids from the school had to participate in the festivities. But the second week, all the houses we visited sent their kids. Actually, there were 22 kids because Landon and Isaiah Foster were there too, but 20 kids from the neighborhood. We talked about the Moses and the plagues, so each child got a temporary tattoo of a bug, frog, or fish. Next week we are talking about Moses leading the Israelite out of Egypt, so we are going to play follow the leader. We have all ages from 3 to 12, but even the 12 year olds love the stuff because so much of the time they have to take care of their younger siblings, that they don’t get to do kid stuff. They especially like the coloring.
So, this week we have had lots of discipleship classes. We met Flor de Maria for her third lesson, and again today for her fourth. Also, on Tuesday, we started meeting with Ruth for lessons. We met with her on Wednesday as well, and meet with her again today too. Then, on Wednesday, we met with Rosalina and Maria, and on Friday we will meet with them again, along with Rosalina’s sister and niece, who came on Wednesday but got there a little late. Last Saturday we met with Maria (a different one), and her sister, Josefa. Their sister-in-law, who already attends am evangelical church with her husband, and mother came too. So the discipleship is going well.
Yesterday, we also visited with Oscar and his daughter-in-law, Maria. If you haven’t realized it by now, Maria is a very common name for all ages. Anyway, Oscar has been a Christian for a long time, and he is very interested in the Church of the Nazarene. He and Maria traveled to the District church, here where we live, for the Sunday morning Sunday School last week. He said they are planning to come this Sunday night too. This coming Sunday night is a special celebration service where we have asked all the people who we have had contact with to come to the “Mother church”, which for us it the district church, to meet others who are involved in the Nazarene church, and to get to be in a service, since we haven’t started having services in our areas yet. I’m excited to see how many of our contacts come.
Kristy and Nancy have had pretty good success with contacts and discipleship in Laura Bozo as well, but they boys are having a difficult time. Please pray for Kevin and Samuel in Manantay and Tim and Daniel in Arenal.

First Things First
Okay, so we have started our blog...we decided to do one together and just have entries in English and Spanish. We aren't exactly sure what it is going to be like, but we will be trying to keep it updated. So we have been working in Yarinacocha for one week. We like our area, and we may have had it a little easier for the first part. Our area had one of the clinics in February, so we had contacts to start with. Today we had a group from Point Loma here, so they went to our locations with us. We had 5 with us. We visited three houses. We visited Maria (she is the older lady I am with here, but the picture if from the other day), and two other houses. There is also a picture here with the Point Loma group that went with Empe and me. Also, here is a photo of the school we are using for the first month of Sunday School with our announcement. There will be more pictures with Empe's blog in Spanish...but even if you don't speak Spanish, look at the pictures.
